Former Genoa Manager Gasperini has been confirmed as the new manager of Inter Milan.The 53 year old was sacked as Genoa boss in November last year. He had secured promotion for Genoa from Serie B in 2007 and led the side into the Europa League in 2009.

A club statement read: "It will be Gian Piero Gasperini to become Inter's new coach. The official announcement will be made once all the final bureaucratic formalities are completed.

"Once this is done, the date of Gasperini's unveiling will be given. Gasperini will sign a two-year contract."

Inter president Massimo Moratti said: "I am fully satisfied with the choice. I wish Gasperini all the success that has taken Inter to become Club World champions."

Gasperini will replace Leonardo, who leaves to take on a role as sporting director at Paris St Germain after replacing Rafael Benitez in December.

Inter were linked with Guus Hiddink, Andre Villas-Boas, Marcelo Bielsa and Sinisa Mihajlovic ,but Villas-Boas joined Chelsea , Bisla and Mihajlovic turned down the offer to Manage inter.
